Ideas for a teens nature themed room?
my teen daughter wants to have her room put into a "nature" or rainforest like theme. any suggestions on what i could put in her room? give me your decoration ideas!
It will all depend on your budget.

Say you only want to spend 50-200$. I suggest using paint on the walls to design a look of trees and flowers and wildlife hidden around the room. For example www.paigestudio.com/albums/album3… After you've seen the link you can spot there are lots of tiny details in that painting for the room. It can be done a lot more simple. But I don't suggest you go so simple as this link, www.paintcharming.com/images/rain… While the trees are cute the background is empty and the trees hurt it more than anything. You don't have to be an artist to paint a beautiful room! There are all sorts of designs and stencils out there! Look online and shop at your local Crafts store for help. With just painting the room, you can paint any bookcases, desks or the like in simple greens or browns.

But if you have a bigger budget, I think after painting the room replace any window curtains or valences with a nice bamboo fabric curtains. You can even replace the shades with wood/bamboo shades bought at home depot. Buy some nice ivy, Not talking about the twiggy stuff you may see in walmart but that has thickness besides the strand of plastic. Now if you are going with the cheaper route you can STILL achieve those. Head to your nearest store that sells beach stuff, and find a tatami beach mat. www.amazuluinc.com/images/180-wea… It doesn't have to be as nice as this one but thats just to give you an idea. Ive purchased several for less than 5 dollars. Hang it up with a couple of tacks where the curtains used to be, and if you buy lots and lots I'll forgive you for using the cheap ivy from walmart or wherever you like to buy that. A few pieces of that doesn't look good just in one spot. Don't use it sparingly and drape it around the 'trees' you paints, a section over the curtain and trailing down ONE side. Put it on desks, and add beautiful fake exotic flowers to match the walls!

Are your creative juices flowing yet? No? Yes? Well how bout this... Purchase a bug netting with a circle that you can hang into the ceiling. I'm not sure what the circles are called but it allows the bug netting to expand more. If your daughter has a TALL 4 post bed then just tacking the center securely into the ceiling and draping it over the posts to where is can touch the ground is Ideal. Sounds like a lot of work but it will let your teen feel like a little princess again. Bug nets if you don't know are used when you go to sleep and cover to the floor so you don't get little surprises while sleeping. thestar.com.my/archives/2008/5/24…

If your girl loves butterflies string some with fishing line and attach them to the ceiling in a specific corner. Add some on the pretty painted wall flowers too! The ceiling should you choose to paint the whole room would be a great place to recreate the stars in the sky in her own room.

Spending even more money??

Buy a bedspread that is super simple and in a soft brown color. Down comforters are wondrous!. Match all the linens as well. Very adult looking and will get use a LOT longer than a rainforest print. Specially when the room changes to something else.

MORE MONEY?

Replace any open book shelves unless they are being used for her teenage book collection. Any other books can be donated, traded in or even stored. The new shelving can be cabinets! Let her hide her stuff away. Cabinet and drawers combos work really nice. A simple in design vanity can really make her feel more adult just like the new bedding. I wouldn't buy something ornate with designs as it wouldnt match the room and when she moves out some day if she takes it with her it will be easier to match her own stuff with.

I don't suggest anything generic like leopard print for anything unless its like cozy slippers. Leopard print can be a phase with some people, and some people find it tacky. Either way its hard to match leopard prints. Sometimes the colors are off when you find something awesome and new at a different store or maybe at a garage sale. Or the spots are too small or ect. Its best to keep prints in general at a minimum.

If a SMALL pet would be okay, there are beautiful little lizards or frogs you can get that will be a freakin neat touch. Even turtles can be cool when going with themes.

I think it would be a really fun family event to paint the room after you have traced a design or stencil on the walls. Be sure and take your daughter when you go shopping for some of the little extra touches BUT dont ruin it mom! Make sure when you get to unveil the new room maybe she didn't know about the butterflies floating around over by the air vent that flutter, or the comfy new linens or the surprise of when she turns her lights off to go to bed and sees the sky above her.
What makes parents think its sex ed/contraception/morality that influences teens promiscuity not nature?
What makes parents think its sex ed, the media, openess to sexuaity, availability to contraception and morning after pills etc.

Lack of a morality system based on a witch burner 9ie caring doctor) or psycho stoning gay abusing cult.

Or sending out any form of 'message'

Ie them thinking condom machines in secondary/high school toilets is somehow saying its ok to have sex rubbish.

Is what influences teenagers to become sexual.

And not er...

* Nature,

* Hormones,

* Ability (ie your good looking, good at seduction/chatting up and getting offers as opposed to ugly and nurdy billy no mates let alone lovvers)

* Feelings Ie you fall in love.

* Need for affection

* The fact u fancy someone or not...

Etc

Or that teens and others are promiscuous not due to some morality thing but as they have the same feelings and needs and desire as someone in a couple but can't find a perfect soulmate so making productive use of the mean time whilst seaching for love
I'm interested to know why you as so many questions on parenting? I'm not knocking it, I'm just curious as to why parenting interest's you so much, are you a guyren's Nanny or a psychologist or just a parent with genuine interest?
This is more about human(teen) nature...?
I'm in H/School, and most of u already probably went through it, and whenever, people talk about you and stuff, is it normal to take on an arrogant air towards them?
no

but some adults are like this

i guess if they've come across a lot of stupid guys that do and say stupid things this colours their perception of teens.
How to make a comment code copiable?
I'm helping a friend that's an admin for 'Teen Nature Photography~Post 1 comment 1 (No people!)' and she doesn't know how to make a comment code. I made one for her, but when she posts it on the group page, it shows up with the picture and not with the technical stuff. People need to copy the technical stuff to post it properly. Does that make sense?
So, my question is, how does she post the technical stuff on the group page without it turning into the actual comment code?
Thanks in advance
Liam
You're best advised to get your friend to look at the Admin Help group - www.flickr.com/groups/545505@N23/

If you join, you'll see that there are open threads in the group where people ask for help writing their codes. They normally get help quickly.

There's also a step by step guide in Admin Help Assistance for Groups - www.flickr.com/groups/adminhelp/d…
Are there any jobs available for teens that deal with wildlife, nature, etc?
I'm 17 yrs old and I need a job.I have a passion for things like nature, wildlife, etc and thought I should search for jobs in that field. So are there any jobs like that for someone like me who doesn't have a degree? Also,I need one that pays. Not a load of money but some...and I live in Nashville,TN.
My first job was working in a green house. It didn't pay all that much but I loved it because it fulfilled my passion. Can I give you advise? Do not let anybody talk you into doing something you don't care much for just because you can make more money. That was my mistake. I took two years of horticulture, and always played with plants and animals since I was a guy. I was talked into computers, now I am very unhappy and wish I could start over again studied to be a forest ranger. That could be your goal. Good luck.
How come teens my age only like material things and they dont appreciate nature or anything?
I love nature and i like simple things in life. i'm a deep thinker.. but it seems like everyone my age has no appreciation and no feelings(?) they spit on all thats in front of them. all the beautiful things in life they take for granted. They listen to mainstream music ONLY and they dress like everyone else and say they are so very different. When will these people ever wake up? It's starting to depress me. I have no one to relate to.
i know how you feel. i am a "half-rennie" meaning i work at the Renaissance fair. people may think its all show and stuff, but they don't know. we all are a community there and we appreciate the nature and all of its beauty. ive seen things from desert, to ocean, to the forest. the world is stunning. nothing compares. i just wish there were more people out there who felt the same. maybe some day there will be more. i hope you find a truly different real person. we all need some one like that.
Are adults more inhibited and teens less inhibited? Nurture or nature?
Sub-questions: Do brain chemicals undergo change when a teen approaches adulthood? Or does society, culture and gender etc. regulate our inhibitions?

In what ways are women and men more inhibited, compared to teen girls and boys?

Note: I'm not saying inhibitions are always negative things. They can be beneficial too.
It is all about hormones and learning to live with them. Teenage people are driven by large doses of hormones. This in turn causes inhibitions to be pushed aside not necessary eliminated or reduced. Hormones exert more influence on people at that point in their life. It is a force designed to simulated the young and most fertile to reproduce—it is natures way.
Do you think that nature intended for the human species to reproduce in their "teens" ?
Just a random question.
Yes, late teens is the prime "breeding" period for females, and the peak of male prowness.

The laws regarding "teen sex" are recent... literally within the last 50-100 years. In the 1700s and 1800s a girl who wasn't MARRIED and having guys by the age of 18 was a "freak", outside the norm !!
Teens Survey:Has their been any change in your nature from guyhood to this time?
If yes then what is it?
well when i was a guy i was more outgoing and i spoke out my opinions more openly without even thinking about how other people would feel about it. i didn't quite get when the right time to say something is and when isn't.
but now, it seems that all i worry about is how other people would react if i say something, and things like that.
in short i used to not care about what other people think of me, but now i'm really self conscious! :O
